ABOUT US

Egton Estate is set within approximately 6,000 acres. There is 4,900 acres of heather moorland, 500 acres of pasture and approximately 400 acres of commercial and amenity woodland with the balance made up of freehold sporting rights owned. The Yorkshire Esk, one of the country’s most prolific salmon and sea trout spate rivers dissects the Estate.
John Foster, of Black Dyke Mills fame, Queensbury, West Yorkshire, purchased the Egton Estate with his brother Abraham Briggs Foster in 1869 as a sporting estate. Having been in the Foster family since that time, the Estate has more recently been run as a commercial operation for the last 38 years.
Egton Estate is located approximately one hour north of York and approximately six miles from the picturesque fishing town of Whitby. The Estate sits on the northeast fringe of the North York Moors National Park.
In June 2014 Olly Foster took over the sporting business from his Father, Simon. Having studied at Cirencester Agricultural College, with a career in commercial property and more latterly, rural land management, Olly is eager to combine his love of fishing, shooting and wildlife and continue to run and develop Egton as a unique enterprise. It is now Olly's opportunity to develop the Estate further and make the very most of the landscape and surroundings upon which the Estate lies.
Olly and Laura Foster have three boys Kit (8), Sonny (6) and Ned (3). All share the unique privilege and opportunity to develop the Estate whilst at the same time preserving its charm and character.
